Cantilever Spring Energized Rod Seals
Cantilever Spring Energized Rod Seals use a V-shaped spring embedded in a polymer jacket. When installed, the compressed V-spring provides sealing energy for effective sealing. They commonly replace rubber U-cups that fail due to chemical attack, extreme temperatures, friction, or wear.
These seals are ideal for reciprocating applications like shocks, hydraulic cylinders, pumps, and compressors. The spring design concentrates load at the seal's front, making it suitable for environmental exclusion and scraping viscous media. For FDA applications, the spring cavity can be filled with silicone.
